Process

How a shoot
actually runs.

From the first message to the finished photo.

Four steps

Every session runs the same way, whether it is a campaign or a single portrait.

01

Inquiry

Who it is for, roughly when and where, plus a budget range. That’s enough to start. If you’re not sure exactly what you need yet, that is what the scope call is for.

02

Scope call

An email thread or a short call to settle the look, the location, the crew, the dates, and where the images will run: social, paid ads, billboard, packaging, a book, etc. The quote is built from that conversation, so it is a real number rather than a ballpark.

03

Shoot

Half or full day. Direction, lighting and styling are handled on set, and you see images as they happen.

04

Delivery

Retouched selects in the formats you need, on a date set before the shoot rather than after it.

What you get back

Three kinds of session. Most are one of these, or a mix of two. Not sure which is yours? Say what it’s for, and it gets sorted on the call.

Licensing and usage

What does the fee cover?

The shoot and a defined licence to use the images. Term, territory, and where they run are agreed in the scope call and written into the quote, so nothing is ambiguous later.

Can usage be extended after the fact?

Yes. Extending a term, adding a territory, or moving from organic social to paid media is a separate licence on images that already exist. Cheaper than reshooting and faster.

Is exclusivity available?

Yes, priced separately. Exclusivity means the images do not appear in the portfolio or anywhere else for the agreed term, so it is quoted as its own line rather than bundled.

What drives the number?

Usage term, territory, shoot length, crew, and whether motion is included. Not a package tier. Two shoots the same length can price very differently depending on where the images run.

Start a session.

Send the brief and a budget range. You’ll hear back within 24 to 48 hours.

Everything above is how a session usually runs, not a fixed package. Scope, crew and usage are set per project and written into the quote. Questions: info@brendanforbes.com
